Apex Legends has released its latest event, the Inner Beast Collection Event which has many of its player base split.
While some appreciate the varied gameplay, new skins, and plentiful rewards, others have taken a more pessimistic look into the future of the battle royale game. The key problem here is the new Takeover: The Hunt game mode and what it entails.
That said, before we head into the problem with Apex Legends, there’s still a lot to appreciate in the game.

The Problem – Solo Players Ignored
While the new Takeover: The Hunt game mode is interesting on paper, where players can track ‘prey’ squads, it misses an essential point in the game’s philosophy for many fans.
Many dedicated players who keep coming back to Apex Legends are actually solo players. They don’t have a squad of three to run with which can have drastic effects on teamwork and overall match progression.
What the new Takeover mode does is give players and squads easy pickings, especially on solo players. Players have taken to forums like Reddit and X to highlight how disastrous the game mode has been for players without a squad.
Almost every match is a slaughter with proper 3-man squads dominating the game by simply finding a Hunt tracker and going after players who aren’t teamed up. This adds an element of ‘randomness’ and gives hunted players not much recourse against hunters.
The event heavily favors squads that are partied together, which makes the game entirely unplayable for solo players.
But the problem itself isn’t just the event.
The Bigger Problem – Forced Game Modes
One thing we’ve never really appreciated about Apex is that whenever they release a new game mode or event, they tend to use the ‘Takeover’ formula to totally replace the unranked Trios battle royale mode.
Not only does this remove an entire game mode for players, but you’re now forced to participate in the event whether you like it or not. Not every event is a hit for the entire player base, and some would prefer to play the standard game mode while the event is running.
This is the biggest problem players face with the new Hunt mode.
Even if they don’t appreciate or like the new game mechanics, if they had an alternate playlist to go to, this wouldn’t be a problem. This sidelines a lot of the player base if they can’t conceivably play the game, especially when it requires a 3-man squad to stay viable.
Not to mention the Apex Legends devs are reluctant to add in Solo queues permanently for a reason we don’t quite understand. For players that prefer it, why not keep a mode specifically for solo queues, or maybe don’t totally replace the Trios queue with every new event?
If they kept the modes separate, players would have more choices and are more likely to come back for more. But for some reason, Apex Legends devs are still set in stone on their squad-based battle royale formula.
That said, Apex Legends is still among one of the best battle royales in the market. So if you’re looking for a reliable way to top up Apex Legends coins or looking for specific skins, get more info at U7BUY!
